Along with Nottingham Forest, Everton was once again penalized in January for violating PSR regulations from a period that ended with the 2022/23 season.

Forest has filed an appeal challenging the four-point deduction that was imposed on him.

Prior to the announcement of the point punishment, the team was fifteenth in the Premier League table, four points above of the bottom three.

They are now in 16th place with 27 points, two points ahead of 18th-place Luton, and below Brentford.

In November, Everton lost 10 points for going over their allowed losses for the term ending with the 2021–22 season—a deficit that was later reduced to six points after a successful appeal.
