Onotare of Ozalla Kingdom in Owan West local government area, HRH Nathaniel Igelugbo Omogbai, The Okpamen the IX, has stripped Uyi Oduwa-Malaka, the Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture, Tourism and Diaspora Affairs, of the honourary chieftaincy she had been bestowed, the Uzoyare of Ozalla Kingdom.

According to a statement released by Osumah Obaze, the palace spokesman, the queen swiftly had her title revoked to discourage anyone from bringing dishonor to the esteemed kingdom.

After the commissioner asked the king to meet her in the palace automobile, she faced accusations of impropriety and showing disrespect to the king.

Ozemevboya of Ozalla Kingdom, a title previously bestowed upon George Ohioma, has been revoked and is now reserved for “Ozalla freeborns,” according to the announcement.

The speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, and the chairman of the Owan West Local Government, Mr. Dickson Ahonsi, were present during the Ivbamen festival on April 13, 2024, when she publicly insulted the Onotare and refused to pay obeisance. She also boasted about her plans to remove the traditional ruler from office.

“Concurrently, the honorary chieftaincy title, Ozemevboya of Ozalla Kingdom, bestowed upon Barr. George Ohioma aka Armani by the Onotare of Ozalla, His Royal Highest Nathaniel Igelugbo Omogbai, was revoked.

This action was taken in response to Armani’s public insults and physical assault on the Onotare and Secretary to the Onotare, Mr. Ehichioya Ujuanbi, which occurred in the presence of Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, the Speaker to the Edo State House of Assembly, and Mr. Dickson Ahonsi, Chairman of Owan West Local Government Council, respectively, at the Onotare’s Palace.

Only naturalized citizens of Ozalla Kingdom, not foreigners like Barr George Ohioma, are eligible to hold the title of Ozemevboya of Ozalla Kingdom. With immediate effect, His Royal Highness Nathaniel Igelugbo Omogbai, Onotare of Ozalla, has barred Mrs. Uyi Oduwa-Malaka and Barr. George Ohioma from the palace. The general people should be aware of this.
