Injuries have been a problem for Awoniyi this year.

Due to surgery on his groin, the Nigerian international has already missed significant time this season.

Although he returned to duty in January, the 26-year-old is now again out with a thigh ailment.

As a result of the injury, Awoniyi has been ruled out of Forest’s last four matches.

A scan will be conducted on the striker this week, as reported by The Telegraph.

With any luck, the results of the scan will provide light on Awoniyi’s return window.

With just six games left on their Premier League schedule, Nottingham Forest is fighting for survival.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo would be greatly encouraged if Awoniyi is able to participate in at least a few of those matches.
