Posted by Edo State’s new deputy governor, Omobayo Marvellous Godwins, was appointed Monday by Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The impeachment of Philip Shaibu led to the swearing-in of the 38-year-old.
Upon receiving the report from the impeachment panel presided over by Justice S. A. Omonua (rtd), the State House of Assembly proceeded to impeach Shaibu.
The chief judge of Edo state appointed the panel to look into Shaibu’s perjury and misconduct claims.
On Monday, April 8, 2024, eighteen of the twenty lawmakers present cast their votes in favor of the impeachment motion, while a single member cast his vote against it.
The new deputy governor’s bio is below.
1. July 19, 1986 is the date of his birth.
Second, the Akoko Edo Local Government Area is Omobayo’s hometown.
3. From the University of Benin (UNIBEN), he earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering as well as a Master of Science degree in Public Administration.
4. The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) both have him as a registered member.
5. Under Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited, he was a Senior Maintenance Engineer.
6. In the 2023 elections, Omobayo ran for the Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency as a candidate for the Labour party.
7. He took the oath of office as deputy governor when Shaibu was impeached.
